The procedures for the worship gathering during Stage Two are as follows:

  1. Access to the building will be through one lobby door only.
    1. All other doors will be locked.
    2. The interior Fellowship Hall doors and all classroom doors will be closed.
  2. An usher (wearing gloves and a mask) will be located outside the entry door. The usher will ask the follow questions of all who wish to enter:
    1. Do you have a fever or have you had a fever in the last 48 hours?
    2. Do you have a persistent cough or difficulty breathing?
    3. Have you had a change to your sense of taste or smell?
    4. Have you come in contact with anyone diagnosed with COVID-19 in the last 14 days?
  3. If the worshiper answers “Yes” to any of the above questions, then the usher will inform the person they may not attend and will encourage the person to view the service online.
  4. If the worshiper answers “No” to all of the above questions, then the usher will open the door and direct the worshiper to the Sanitizing Station, which will be located at the main entrance to the Worship Center.
  5. The Sanitizing Station will have hand sanitizer and facemasks, if you do not bring your own. The station usher will squirt sanitizer into the worshipper’s hands. The usher will direct the worshipers to sit as a family group. Every other row of seating will be blocked off and each row will be limited to one household.
  6. There will be no printed bulletins or Prayer Guides. Announcements will be made via pre-service slides, announcement time, Midweek Messenger, and/or other electronic communications. Prayer needs will be communicated though text, email, and our Facebook group.
  7. There will be no greeting or handshaking time.
  8. All items in chair pockets and on racks will be removed.
  9. There will be no passing of offering plates. An offering box will be available in the lobby area under the TV. Worshipers are encouraged to use our new ways of giving: online through the church website, by text, or through the Church Center app. Information about how to use these new ways of giving will be provided via email, videos, and in-person instruction during worship services.
  10. Coffee will not be provided. Water fountains will be turned off. (You may bring your own coffee mug and/or water bottle, but please take it with you as you leave.)
  11. At the conclusion of the service, we will remind people not to congregate in the lobby or outdoors in order to maintain social distancing. The ushers will dismiss the worshipers one row at a time. The ushers will not dismiss the next row until the first row has exited the building.
  12. After everyone has exited the facility, Pastor Jim and Laura Wright will sanitize the facility. They will wipe down the entryway doors, bathroom doors and all handles, the office door knobs, light switches, and alarm keypad. They will also disinfect the seats using a COVID-19 approved disinfectant. Deacon Rob Cook will wipe down the audio/visual equipment, table top, and light switches in the balcony.
  13. The leaders of Centro Cristiano Bautista Vida Nueva, our Hispanic congregation will be instructed to follow these procedures.
  14. Prior to worship service the next week, Pastor Jim, Laura, and Rob will sanitize the chairs, door handles, and bathrooms, etc.

A Message
from the Pastor

Updated May 5, 2020

The last few months have been unusual due to the COVID-19 crisis. In a good-faith effort to our community, we discontinued worship services and all activities at the church facility. Since the closure, we have been holding worship services and Bible Study online.

In Indiana, the governor has laid out five stages for the reopening process.  According to the Governor’s stages, houses of worship may reopen in Stage Two. In anticipation of Governor Holcomb allowing Indiana to begin resuming operations, the Leadership Team has carefully and cautiously planned our Reopening Procedures for “Stage Two.” Currently, Marion County is slated to enter into “Stage Two” on May 11th; however, this date is subject to change. Therefore, we do not have a solid date to reopen.

Please review the “Reopening Procedures: Stage Two” established by the Leadership Team. They have been designed with your health and safety in mind. We will follow these procedures while Indiana including Marion County is in Stage Two. When Indiana and Marion County enter Stage Three, we will make updates to the procedures and you will be notified of the changes in advanced. Updates to our Reopening Procedures can also be found on our website: www.mywarrenbaptist.com/COVID.

We are taking these steps to ensure the safety of all who will attend. We want you to feel at ease and secure while you worship in our facility. For those in high risk groups, we will continue to broadcast our services live on our Facebook page and YouTube channel at 10 AM on Sundays. Recordings of the broadcast can also be found on our website, www.mywarrenbaptist.com. Wednesday Prayer will continue in Zoom at 5:30 PM and may be accessed by telephone. Bible Study will remain live on Facebook Wednesdays at 6 PM. If you need assistance with any of these technologies, please call so we can help.

Jim Wright, D. Min.
